Launching OpenUp
In the video below, Emma walks you through the support we offer to help you launch OpenUp and communicate our services to your employees. She also shares her personal recommendations for getting people to engage with OpenUp.
5 steps for a successful launch
You now have all the materials you need to launch OpenUp within your company. Exciting! Follow the steps below and use the resources in the onboarding package.
-
1
Step 1
Launch OpenUp to the management team
We recommend doing this three to seven days before the main launch within the entire company. Use the templates in your onboarding package to create a launch message that gets your management team excited.
-
2
Step 2
Launch OpenUp to all employees
Once your management team is on board, it’s time to let everyone else know about OpenUp. Use the templates in the onboarding package to create a message that fits your company’s style. If you have a company-wide meeting, this is a great place to share more about OpenUp and how you can use it as well!
-
3
Step 3
Communicating externally about our partnership shows your employees how important mental health is at your workplace. Organisations that do this see increases in engagement.
-
4
Step 4
Appoint ambassadors
We advise identifying ambassadors for mental health within your organisation. Find employees that are eager to use and get familiar with OpenUp’s services so they can encourage and guide others!
-
5
Step 5
Embed OpenUp in your onboarding
Add mental well-being and OpenUp as a topic in your existing onboarding process. This way, new employees are aware that you value their mental health and offer solutions to help them with it. Some ideas:
- Add an email about OpenUp in your automated onboarding flow;
- On your onboarding day, schedule ten minutes to discuss the importance of mental well-being and the services of OpenUp;
- Ask managers to include ‘creating a MyOpenUp account’ as an onboarding task for new team members.

Do employees really have unlimited access?
Yes, as part of the collaboration between employer and OpenUp, all employees have unlimited access to all services offered by OpenUp.
This includes 1-on-1 consultations and 1-on-1 mindfulness consultations. The psychologist and employee will discuss how many consultations might be needed to handle the situation in question. On average, an employee is ready to handle the question themselves after 3-5 consultations.
I would like to know if OpenUp and my organisation match. How can I learn more?
Would you like to know what OpenUp can do for your organisation? Book a meeting with us. We would love to hear about any challenges you are facing within your organisation.
The meeting takes about 25 minutes, during which we introduce OpenUp to you. And we show you how OpenUp can help you and your organisation. We show how easy it is for employees to (anonymously) contact our psychologists or to use our self-help resources. We show you our online environment, and we discuss how we can activate your employees to start working with OpenUp.
How do you guarantee the quality of your psychologists?
Offering the highest quality of care is our number one priority. Therefore, we use strict selection criteria for our psychologists. During selection, we use role plays and intervision sessions, to ensure we only hire the most talented psychologists. Moreover, all our psychologists have at least a master’s degree in Psychology.
The knowledge of our psychologists is kept up to date through regular courses and intervision sessions. Also, our psychologists are supported by clinical psychologists.
How do the one-on-one consults work?
When your organization works with OpenUp, employees can plan a consult with one of our psychologists via our website. The employee chooses between a regular and a mindfulness consult. This is all anonymous: as an employer you will never know who requested a consult.
The first meeting will take place within 24 hours. This consult is used for the psychologist and the employee to get to know each other, and to develop an action plan together. In 95% of the cases, three to five consults will be enough to solve the employee’s problem. During the first consult, the psychologist may notice that another health care professional than OpenUp is needed for this employee. We will guide this employee towards the right person. Until then, we will continue our consults with the employee.
Our psychologists use various techniques to help people deal with everyday challenges. These techniques are practical and preventative.
What happens after I enrolled my organization at OpenUp?
After your organization has enrolled, your employees can make use of one-on-one consults with our psychologists, and of our self-help modules.
To make your partnership with OpenUp successful, you will inform your organization about it. We’re here to help you with this. We assign a personal customer success manager to you. Together, you will develop a communication plan, and activate as much employees as possible to work on their mental health.
